RIC Unveils New Strategic Plan to Drive the Future of Remanufacturing

The Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) has unveiled a new strategic plan designed to strengthen member value, sharpen organizational focus, and expand RIC’s impact across the global remanufacturing industry.

Developed with input from members, past members, and industry stakeholders — and guided by third-party experts — the plan reflects months of research, benchmarking, and collaborative discussions. The result is a clear, actionable roadmap that positions RIC for long-term growth and leadership.

At its core, the plan reaffirms RIC’s purpose: to unify and champion the remanufacturing industry. This purpose is built on three foundational pillars: Collaborate, Advocate, and Educate.

  • Collaborate – Strengthen member connections and supplier relationships through a new supplier directory, enhanced networking opportunities, and a strong RIC-RIT World Remanufacturing Conference.
  • Advocate – Elevate the industry’s collective voice through standards leadership, an annual impact survey, and proactive engagement with policymakers and trade organizations.
  • Educate – Equip members with tools and knowledge through best practice publications; raise public awareness and support member education through informative web content, workforce development resources, and educational webinars.

The plan also streamlines RIC’s committee structure from six to three core committees — Collaboration, Advocacy, and Education — with flexibility for task groups to address emerging issues. In addition, a new membership model will offer clearer tiers and expanded opportunities for individuals, academia, suppliers, and emerging companies to engage with the organization.

Implementation of the plan begins immediately, with priorities for 2025 including member outreach, updated bylaws, and the launch of new supplier programs.

“RIC is entering an exciting new chapter,” said RIC Board Chair, Jeff Sutherland. “This plan builds on our strengths, responds directly to member feedback, and positions the organization — and the remanufacturing industry — for sustainable growth.”

Together, RIC members will lead the charge in advancing the circular economy and driving the future of remanufacturing worldwide.
